Create Custom 404 and “No Search Results” Pages

Note: A custom “No Search Results” template requires CommerceKit’s Ajax Search module to be active with “All contents” selected.

A common request has been to include the ability to create a custom 404 page and a “No Search Results” template, and starting from Shoptimizer 2.6.6 you can now do so.

First, login to WordPress and go to the Renewable Blocks area within your admin area. WordPress hides this by default.

You can go there by including this string at the end of your domain:
/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=wp_block

Next, download these demo data json files (you can right-click on each separately and select “Save As”).

Then upload each json individually, by clicking on the Import from JSON button.

Once these has imported, you will be able to edit both templates just like any other page using the native WordPress block editor.

You can see the result of the custom 404 and No Search Results on the Shoptimizer demo site.

Finally, Baymard has an interesting article on best practices for the No Search Results page which is worth reading.
