How you update CommerceKit depends on whether you purchased it as a standalone plugin or as part of the Shoptimizer theme bundle. Follow the section that applies to you.
If you purchased CommerceKit as part of Shoptimizer
CommerceKit is bundled with the Shoptimizer theme. Updates follow a two-step process:
Step 1 — Update Shoptimizer
First update the Shoptimizer theme by following our guide.
Step 2 — Update CommerceKit
Once it’s been updated you can then update CommerceKit via Appearance > Install Plugins. If a new version of CommerceKit is available, it will appear here. Click Update to install it.
Note: CommerceKit updates for Shoptimizer bundle users do not appear in the main Plugins list — they appear under Appearance → Install Plugins instead.
If you purchased CommerceKit standalone
Automatic updates (recommended)
- Log in to your CommerceGurus account.
- Add your domain to your CommerceKit subscription if you haven’t done so already.
- Once your domain is connected, update notices will appear in your WordPress admin under Plugins — exactly the same as any other plugin.
- Click Update now next to CommerceKit.
Manual update
If you prefer to update manually, or if your domain is not connected:
- Log in to your CommerceGurus account and download the latest version of CommerceKit.
- In your WordPress admin, go to
Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin. - Choose the downloaded
.zipfile and click Install Now. - When prompted, click Replace current with uploaded.
Before updating
- Always back up your site before updating any plugin.
- Check the CommerceKit changelog for breaking changes if you are several versions behind.
- If your store has a separate staging environment, test the update there first.
